Say what you want about OSX and Applescript…

but I just created an small script in 30 minutes that will help keep me on task. I wrote it in Applescript because it *easily* interfaces with the OS natively. If I used Python or some other scripting language, it would have taken me a bit longer to interface with the Growl API and to get it working in the background efficiently.

Most of my procrastination stems from two big things: Twitter and RSS News Feeds. If I can keep myself away from those things, then I am super efficient. Let’s hope things work out well. :-) I’ve attached the script below.

This year I learned…

This year I learned that we should stop talking about liberalism vs. conservatism and should be focusing on corporatism vs. individualism. I learned that if you have an idea that you’re excited about, it’s never been easier to start it and grow your business organically. I learned that the distances and friction between people and ideas have been greatly reduced by tools that have been created to benefit everyone. I learned that we are inherently social and curious. This year I learned that I can do more things in the palm of my hand than I was able to do on my desktop 5 years ago. In the year of 2010, we’ll see more innovation than last year, and we’ll find that people will become closer than ever. Want world peace and democracy? Look to the internet, keep your government accountable, and develop relationships with people across the globe.
